Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Greece and the architectural design and construction of the new pharmacy in the arrivals area was a unique and attractive challenge for us.
In this project we were invited to radically change a space with an outdated aesthetic (from the year of the Airport's construction), giving it a unique identity that would stand out for its modern style, clever commercial exploitation of the space and allusive references to the Greek landscape.
The new space is characterized by simple and clean lines that give feeling, while small details betray spontaneous creativity in design.
An important innovation was the design approach of the open space. The crystal panes were completely eliminated, creating a 100% open and accessible store with a strongly extroverted character.
The geometry of the shopping arcade has been designed with the human passenger in mind, who can comfortably navigate the aisles, choose from a wide range of products displayed in harmony and be served at various sales stations.
The design reference point of the pharmacy is the central thematic structure combined with the design of the roof. Inspired by the inexhaustible treasure of the Greek landscape, a composition was designed with references to the endless white of the Cyclades and the endless Greek sky.
For us at Progetto Farma, being part of such an important project from its birth to its full completion is an event of great importance and responsibility.
